School marketing is an fascinating and quite unique profession and one which I believe many people just fall into. I know that I did. In 1994 my school was going thorough a difficult time with enrolments and needed a quick fix successful school marketing plan. Yours truly 'volunteered' for the job, not knowing what it really was or how to do it.
After much on the job training, limited research (there were no school marketing courses in the 1990s), engagement with many key people in the local media and in general marketing, developed what I believe was quite a successful markeing plan. This morphed thoughout the years and continues to this day in a relevant format for the 21st century.
Out of this experience, along with my school marketing experience in the 1980s when an elementary / primary school principal, developed an easy-to-read and easy-to-use 180+ A4 sized handbook, which was published in November 2008. This quickly developed into an electronic version for simple internet downloading. This may be found at the website developed at the same time at:
http://www.schoolmarketingehandbook.com/
The website is provided for both professional engagement by school marketing personnel, primarily through the Blogs, Hints and Tips etc, as well as a conduit for purchasing the School Marketing e-Handbook: Easy to Use Guide to Market Your School (by Bryan Foster).
